Your Trip to Texas Isn't Complete If You Don't Visit Summer Moon Coffee

One of the biggest staples across the state of Texas is its recognized coffee chain, Summer Moon Coffee. Popular and known for their infamous moon milk, a single sip of the infused wood-fired coffee will change your perspective on lattes.
Summer Moon is a family owned company whose goal is to serve a unique and distinctive coffee experience to their local community. They focus on perfecting the customer journey in order for those to experience FOMO (fear of missing out) if they weren’t able to take that first sip of their infamous, wood fired coffee. During my visit to Austin, I visited the original Summer Moon Location located on South First Street.
My Summer Moon Coffee Experience
No need to panic! Well, at the original location at least. There are outlets provided at each individual table. This was a game changer. I didn’t have to worry about my laptop dying during the middle of my working session and I was able to focus on things that needed to get done. This was the biggest game changer and made my experience that much better. The individual tables are large enough where you can share with one other person, but because I was carrying my luggage around, the space was the perfect size for me.
Now that I had my seat secured, all I needed left was what I originally went there for. A wood fired coffee infused with the infamous summer moon moon milk. I was craving the taste, as I tried it for the first time during my road trip across Texas in the beginning of the year.
But there was a problem.
The store was flooded since I got to there during rush hour. It was prime time to get a cup of coffee before work so I figured that in about 15-20 minutes, the line would die down. Yeah, no. I was completely wrong. An hour passed by and the line was still at the door. I was so confused and was still waiting until about 10:15AM when I finally got up to order my drink. I asked the baristas if there were seasonal drinks and one recommended a hot Autumn Moon Latte with half moon milk. The baristas were super friendly and accommodating to all their customers. They made sure that I understood what summer moon moon milk was and briefly educated me on the exact amounts of coffee and milk that was going into my drink.
What is Summer Moon Milk? What is the Summermoon Moon Milk Recipe?
If you’re not a local, you’re probably wondering what the heck moon in Moon Milk is. Well, let me tell you that the summermoon moon milk is a mixture of sweet cream and flavors of caramel and vanilla mixed in with it. The creation of summer moon milk starts off as a syrup, also called as moon juice, that is used as a sweetener. If you are lactose intolerant, you are in luck because there are non dairy options available as well.
If you personally ask me what summer moon milk is, I’d tell you that it is straight up crack. The drink will make your taste buds to the moon and back. No pun intended. I even asked one of the regional managers if they sold Moon Milk online because my orders would be on repeat. And if I didn’t have to fly back home, I’d bring back gallons of Moon Milk back home with me.

Original Summer Moon Location
If you are visiting Austin, Texas or are looking for a place to do work in the area or chat with someone over a cup of coffee, the original Summer Moon location is a great place to do so. There are a ton of tables around the store, as people were averaging about 45 minutes to an hour at every table, some sooner than that. There are outlets provided all around the store, and it was just a cozy environment. The original location is the busiest out of all their locations, but I’m sure that people drive the extra mile in order to experience Summer Moon coffee at where it all started.
The bathroom is located outside of the store, so you do need a key to use it. There are two separate keys, one for the ladies and the other for the men’s restroom, that can be found on the left side at the front of counter. Around the Summer Moon coffee bar is a ton of swag for purchase. Everything from shirts to hats to coffee beans, get ready to put your Summer Moon Coffee swag on.

My Overall Experience at Summer Moon Coffee in Austin, Texas
If I lived in Texas, I think I would make Summer Moon my second home. The store is very cozy as the atmosphere of the shop felt inviting. There were people there for all sort of reasons. Some who made a visit to Summer Moon Coffee to catch up with friends over seasonal drinks, people getting their coffee on the go, others staying for hours to get work done (I was there for about 6 hours), and obviously those who were there just to simply hang out.
The tables are ideal sizes as they are larger than most individual tables at other coffee shops. There were more than enough outlets for me to charge more than one device, and did I ever mention how Summer Moon Milk tastes like crack? I’m glad that I was able to get the Autumn Moon Latte as it is only available until the end of February, so don’t miss out on ordering this drink! Seriously helped me ease into the Fall Season.
Last but not least, the baristas were amazing. They were super accommodating and willing to teach me everything I needed to know about Summer Moon Coffee, made sure they included the perfect amount of Texas’ finest Moon Milk in my drink to satisfy my taste buds, and to make sure that I had the best experience at Summer Moon Coffee during my visit to Austin, Texas.
FYI – if you type in “summer moon coffee” on Google, the first result will link you to their old website, Wood Fired Coffee. I informed one of the regional managers about it because it can be confusing to those looking for the menu or trying to order online.
