CBD Coffee at Gregory’s Coffee Shop

Live in the moment. As cliche and overused as this statement is, there is so much power when doing so. It’s an easy phrase to quote, but when the moment is actually present, many of us start thinking of the hundred other things that can possibly disrupt the moment. Once the seal is broken, the moment is overlooked and forever, lost. There is no such thing as going back in time to bring the moment back. You can try to relive the moment through recreation, but the adrenaline you experienced during the moment is probably not and will never be the same, again. So pause for a second, close your eyes, take a deep breathe, and take the moment in. Entirely. Take deep dives into moments like these, big and small, with intention and clarity. It’s hard to fight the mind, but once you stop double thinking and do your ultimate best to forget about all the cluttered thoughts that prevent you from experiencing full, innocent joy, life seems sweet.

I woke up in New York City yesterday from drinking the night before. It was Patty’s birthday and I had a little bit too much wine… I mean how much unlimited wine can you possibly NOT have?! I woke up at 9:20AM the next morning and the only other person who was up was Francis. We chit chatted for a bit as I was getting ready to go back home. I asked Francis what he was going to do for the rest of the day, and he told me that he was going to stop by Gregory’s Coffee Shop to get a CBD latte.

Immediately I blurted, “What?! That’s a thing? Can we go together, right now?”

“Sure, let’s go!”

As Francis and I are on our way to Gregory’s chatting about the night before, I don’t think I was able to fully wrap my head around the fact that CBD coffee was a thing. I was only recently introduced to CBD and the moment couldn’t have been a better coincidence. Gregory’s coffee is a coffee shop chain with more than 20+ locations in New York and 2 located in New Jersey – Jersey City and Trenton. So the fact that a huge coffee chain offered this drink blew my mind!

I always knew of Gregory’s existence and have only walked past the shops for years but never had the desire to walk into one because it was a chained coffee shop. I live for the brick and mortar, singular, mom + pop coffee shops. We walk into Gregory’s and I immediately felt an instant connection – from the interior design to the color schemes to the baristas. I had a 10 minute conversation with a few of the baristas there about CBD, oat milk, the various locations, and about Greg himself! They also mentioned how Greg stops by the 874 Avenue of Americas location often, so I hope to bump into Greg one of these days and chat with him over a cup of CBD latte.

Just a few sips of the CBD latte away and I am in a completely new state of mind. I felt like I was invincible – not sure if it was because I had liquor in my system or if the CBD was mixed in with coffee, but I felt great. I was living in the moment and was letting go of everything else. I decided to park my car on 19th & 7th and walk downtown. There’s something about walking distance in the city that satisfies my heart. Throughout the day, I met awesome people who were simply living without a care in the world. Chatting with them made me accept the fact that it was OK that I didn’t accomplish things from my to-do list. I normally get anxiety when I don’t, but I needed this reminder to cool myself down. Overall, there was so much clarity throughout the day that if I ignored the moment, I wouldn’t have been living.

Living in the moment has so much more meaning than just the phrase itself. It’s about surrendering yourself to your flesh and ego, getting rid of all the distractions in your head, and soaking in this beautiful life. Once you take the initial lead, you seem to feel weight off your shoulders, and you feel totally liberated. It’s a great feeling.

If I had ignored the moment, I wouldn’t have had my first CBD experience, wouldn’t have met @princezee, wouldn’t have met the cool workers at Napoli (191 Hester St), wouldn’t have found my new shoe obsession at Naked PS821, wouldn’t have watched the sunset at The Flatiron Building, and definitely wouldn’t have met Murphy & Mo at Hemp Garden (158 Orchard St).

Dive into the moment.
